Golden, BC is nestled between two heritage rivers; the Kicking Horse River and the Columbia River. Numerous lakes can be found in the surrounding backcountry.
The Columbia River meanders gently through Golden and is home to the largest intact wetlands in North America. Bring your own, or rent a canoe or standup paddleboard and investigate the river and sloughs of the Columbia Wetlands, an important ecosystem and home to countless birds, fish and large mammals. Make sure you pack your camera and binoculars to capture the abundant wildlife. The Columbia Wetlands Stewardship Partners have produced a detailed map of the Columbia Wetlands.
The Blaeberry River, once used by trader and explorer David Thompson, is popular for all types of paddling.
