Dawn Mountain Nordic Centre
Dawn Mountain Nordic Centre at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort Golden BC offers over 33 km of groomed skate and classic cross country ski trails, suitable for everyone from beginner to expert.
Host of the 2012 Canadian Masters Championships, Dawn Mountain and Golden are now well and truly on the map for cross country ski athletes and cross country ski enthusiasts alike. Facilities include the Dawn Mountain Chalet, a heated day lodge offering a workshop area for ski waxing, rental shop and storage plus a kitchenette and lounge area for rest and recuperation before heading back out onto the trails.
The Dawn Mountain stadium area is perfect for group lessons and events, as well as practising technique.
The Golden Nordic Club holds regular cross country ski events and programs, these include moonlight skis, Huckleberry loppet, beginner classes, wax clinics and more.
Equipment rental is also available at the Dawn Mountain Nordic centre, and you can even rent snowshoes!
Golden Golf Course Cross Country Ski Trails
The Golden Golf Course trail system has a series of maintained trails suitable for beginner and intermediate cross country skiing. Due to their lower elevation they are best skied in the middle of winter season.
Golden Non-maintained Cross Country Skiing
The Moonraker trail do double duty as biking trails in the summer, but in the winter they are great for breaking your own trails through forests and across Cedar Lake.

Cross Country skiing in Yoho National Park
Don’t forget that you can also enjoy an abundance of cross country skiing in one of the nearby National Parks. Yoho National Park is just 40 minutes drive east of Golden BC and offers cross country skiing in stunning locations. Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park offers groomed beginner and intermediate trails across and around the lake surrounded by amazing vistas of the Rocky Mountains.
If you're looking for a workout take the 11km road to Lake O’Hara. The effort will be good for body and soul as you reach one of the most famous lakes in the Canadian Rockies.
