Trail runners will enjoy hundreds kilometers of trail through beautiful forests, along rivers and up into the Alpine in and near Golden, BC. With more than 100 km of trail accessible from town on foot, and hundreds more kilometers in Yoho and Glacier National Parks less than an hour’s drive away, Golden is a true trail running destination.
In addition to the excellent trail systems nearby, Golden also has 14 km of in-town, mostly-flat, double-wide natural surface trails that run along the banks of both the Columbia and Kicking Horse rivers. This trail winds past the high school where there is a 400 m running track.
If you’ll be running in the National Parks, please make sure you have a park pass which are easy to get at the Visitor’s Centre in Field, BC (just east of Golden) or the Visitor’s Centre at Roger’s Pass (just west of Golden).
The Golden Ultra
Golden is proud to be the chosen venue for the Golden Ultra, a 3-day running festival that takes place in Golden from September 18-20, 2015. This festival includes a vertical kilometer Skyrunning event, a 55 km ultra marathon and a 20 km trail run, all on different trails in and around the town of Golden. This event can be completed solo, in a team of 3, or you can register for any one day.
