Posted by
Griffin Robinson

Fall is when you can finally catch your breath after a summer of adrenaline-fueled adventures.

As the leaves change colour and air gets crisper, relax. Embrace a slower pace and let the cozy season linger – after all, this kind of magic only happens once a year!

Now’s the perfect time to make a cup of tea and get yourself comfortable; we’re guiding you on how to get maximum coziness in Golden, B.C. this fall.

Let those warm and fuzzy feelings begin from the moment you wake up.

At these lodges, B&Bs and cozy cabins in Golden, you can start the day surrounded by cottage chic and floor-to-ceiling cedar finishings.

Then, it’s time for the first brew of the day. With a great selection of locally-owned cafés in Golden all serving up delicious coffee, the only option is for you to slowly try them all.

Sip your way through seasonal beverage menus (because, fall!) and savour melt-in-your-mouth pastries, baked fresh in town.

The only way these flavours could get any better? Enjoying them with a view.

Head to the river for a gentle stroll along the Rotary Trail, where you’ll find plenty of benches to pause, reflect and admire how fall decorates Golden’s most iconic waterfront. (As well as your bakery treat.) While you're there, take the time to check out the newly installed "Golden Stroll". A self guided walking tour, sharing stories of history, information, and community spirit. Watch the video below, to find out how and where to begin your Golden Stroll.

As you finish the Golden Stroll, make your way to 9th Avenue, otherwise known as Downtown Golden.

Although Golden’s downtown might seem small, don’t be fooled: it’s teeming with treasures, and the best part is, you don’t have to wander far to discover them!

Breathe in the mountain air as you meander between stores for art, apothecary, jewellery, fashion, gourmet foods handmade by local artisans, or find the perfect pre-loved thing at a consignment store.

Now that you’ve worked up an appetite, sit down to fill your belly with a delicious lunch and decide how you’ll spend the rest of the day.

Will you bundle up and make your way to the Grizzly Bear Refuge at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, and say hello to Boo before he hibernates for winter?

Maybe you’ll take a short drive to explore a nearby trail for waterfalls, summit views, quiet moments in nature and fall colours.

Or, keep it closer to town and continue your journey to uncovering Golden’s charming community:

  • Browse the museum to learn more about the town’s fascinating history

  • Go with the flow and join a relaxing yoga class

  • Taste what’s on tap at Whitetooth Brewing Company, or;

  • Warm up with a cocktail at Golden’s brand new distillery: Stolen Bell. (opening October 10th)

When the evening winds down, make your way back to your accommodation to come full-circle with coziness.

Whether you’ll dip into a hot tub, curl up next to crackling fire or enjoy a to-go night cap from the distillery, remember: no fall day is complete without indulging in a decadent hot chocolate (in your slippers, of course).
