Golden Launches the Golden Stroll – A New Interactive Walking Tour Showcasing the Town’s History and Heritage
Golden, BC - October 29, 2025 Tourism Golden is proud to announce the launch of the Golden Stroll, an interactive self-guided walking tour that brings Golden’s community spirit and rich history to life along the town’s scenic Rotary Trail system. Through a series of short videos accessed by scanning QR codes posted along the trail, visitors and locals alike can immerse themselves in the stories, culture, and landscapes that have shaped Golden.
The Golden Stroll offers two distinct routes for exploration:
- The Reflections Loop – A longer route featuring 15 video stops, this loop winds along the Kicking Horse River and through lush forest to the Reflection Lake Ridge, offering both scenic beauty and a deep dive into Golden’s indigenous roots and humble beginnings.
- The Confluence Walk – A shorter route with six video stops, this walk follows the Columbia and Kicking Horse Rivers to Confluence Park, where natural beauty and cultural history meet.
Each stop reveals a new facet of Golden’s story — from the Ktunaxa and Secwepemc peoples' connection to this land, the resilience of early settlers, to the deep-rooted community spirit and volunteerism. Visitors are invited to take their time, engage their senses, and enjoy this journey through the heart of Golden’s past and present.
“The Golden Stroll is an accessible addition to the visitor experience for all ages and is a great way to learn more and connect with our community’s history, stories, and culture,” says Joanne Sweeting, Executive Director of Tourism Golden. “Use has exceeded our expectations since the launch of the Golden Stroll earlier this fall, and we are excited to see more visitors and residents take advantage of it in the years to come.”
The Golden Stroll was made possible through funding from Destination BC’s Visitor Services Network Experience Enhancement Grant and the collaboration of the Town of Golden.
Tourism Golden extends heartfelt thanks to the Rotary Club of Golden, whose foundational work in creating the Rotary Trail system made this project possible. Appreciation also goes to the many community members who participated in the creation of the videos, as well as to the Ktunaxa and Secwepemc peoples and the Métis Nation Columbia River Society for working with Tourism Golden to help tell the story of this land.
An Invitation to Explore
Tourism Golden invites all visitors and residents to explore the two loops. Begin by downloading the Golden BC App, and make your way to the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge to choose your loop. Then follow the Rotary Trail, look for the wooden posts with QR codes, and embark on your own Golden Stroll to experience Golden in a whole new way.
