20 Years of Boo

July 9, 2022 - 10:00am to July 10, 2022 - 4:30pm

Celebrate 20 years of our favorite local bear!

We are throwing a Birthday Party for Boo the Bear at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort! Not only celebrating this incredible member of our team but also the good that has come from the incredible team members over the years who have been involved in taking care of Boo, and all of those involved in studying Boo to learn about rewilding efforts for orphaned grizzly cubs.

We are grateful for all the support of the Grizzly Bear Foundation and their initiative Project ReWild as through their research and advocacy efforts, The Grizzly Bear Foundation is working hard to help give orphaned grizzly cubs a second chance at life in the wild, across BC and beyond. To learn more about project ReWild and the fantastic work they are doing, make sure to check out the link -> https://grizzlybearfoundation.com/pages/help-orphaned-cubs.
Grizzly Bear Foundation is a Canadian charitable organization dedicated to the long-term welfare of grizzly bears across North America. Guided by science and Indigenous knowledge, they work collaboratively to support the conservation of grizzly bears through research, public education, and advocacy. Find them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Booths & Workshops
We will have booths from Protect Our Winters (POW), Wild Safe BC, WildSight, and the Grizzly Bear Foundation in the Plaza.

Saturday: 12:30 pm – 2:30pm

Gillian Sanders will be performing a Bear Awareness And Safety Workshop at the Whitetooth Grill.  Do you know how to safely respond to a grizzly bear encounter? With increased grizzly bear activity in the rural Golden area, understanding grizzly bear behavior is important. This free workshop is geared towards residents who live, farm, work, and recreate in grizzly bear habitat.

Sunday: 10:00 am – 11:00 am

The Grizzly Bear Refuge Team will be putting on an interactive demonstration with Boo on “Camping in Bear Country”.

Sunday: 12:30pm – 2:30 pm

Gillian Sanders will be presenting an Electric Fence Workshop at the Whitetooth Grill.  Do you know how to effectively protect your livestock and crops from bears? Properly designed and maintained electric fencing allows you to sleep at night even when you know bears are active in your area. This free workshop will provide information to reliably protect a wide diversity of agricultural attractants from black and grizzly bears. Gillian has helped install almost 500 electric fences for bears throughout the Columbia Basin.
