Golden Goes to the Dogs at Golden Tails Gathering
Golden Tails Gathering brought hundreds of Golden Retriever lovers to Golden, BC
The inaugural event draws 265+ Goldens and 450+ attendees from five provinces, three states, and three countries.
GOLDEN, BC - October 2, 2026 Golden, BC lived up to its name on September 26 as Golden Retrievers and their humans gathered for the first-ever Golden Tails Gathering, a new destination dog event celebrating community, connection, rescue support, and, of course, Goldens.
The inaugural event welcomed approximately 450 people and 267 Goldens, with attendees travelling from 70+ communities across five provinces (BC, AB, SK, MB & ON), three states (MT, WA & MN), and three countries (Canada, USA & United Kingdom) to Golden, BC.
“For a first-year event, seeing so many people travel to Golden, BC with their dogs and immediately connect with one another was incredibly special,” said Andrea Tubbs, organizer of Golden Tails Gathering. “The day was exactly what I hoped it would be - joyful, welcoming, a little bit chaotic in the best possible way, and filled with people who genuinely love their dogs and a real sense of community. The reaction from so many attendees was heartwarming, from tears of joy to hearing ‘this is the best day of my life’ more times than I can remember. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who attended, volunteered, sponsored, participated, and helped bring the event to life.”
Golden Tails Gathering was created not only as a celebration of the breed, but also as an opportunity to give back. Partial proceeds from the event will support Golden Retriever Rescue Canada, Little Mittens Animal Rescue Association, and Alberta Animal Rescue Club Society.
“Golden Tails Gathering was always intended to be more than a dog event,” Tubbs added. “It was about creating an experience people would travel for, showcasing Golden as a welcoming destination, supporting rescue organizations, and bringing together a community that shares a pretty special connection through their dogs.”
Following the success of the inaugural event, Golden Tails Gathering will return to Golden, BC on September 25, 2027.
