Takakkaw Falls: Tallest Waterfall in the Canadian Rockies 

Located in Yoho National Park, Takakkaw comes from the Cree language, meaning "it is magnificent". Taller than the Eiffel Tower, Takakkaw Falls plunges 373m over limestone rock. The Daly Glacier feeds this waterfall, and the falls feel especially thunderous during June and July, however, these falls are spectacular anytime. To experience the power of Takakkaw Falls, it is a short walk from the parking lot to the base of the falls on a well-defined trail. 

Recreate responsibly! It is important to pack out all garbage or dispose of it in a bear-proof bin. Outhouses are available at the site. Stay on the trail and don't venture close to the water's edge. 

To get to Takakkaw Falls from Golden, it is approximately a one-hour drive. From Golden, head east on Highway 1 for approximately 58km. Turn left onto Yoho Valley Road, and follow the road for 13.1km to the falls. Please note that some serious steep switchbacks require patience, waiting your turn, and slowing down. Vehicles over 7m (23ft) must reverse around the tight switchbacks. Trailers are not permitted. 

The road experiences seasonal closures from October to June. Check the Parks Canada website for up-to-date road closures.
