Art On the Mountain - Mark Kowalchuk

In partnership with Kicking Horse Culture, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is hosting local creators on the mountain this summer. 

Mark Kowalchuk, a Canadian illustrator and graphic artist, is a creative force based in Calgary, Alberta. Born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario, he cultivated his artistic talents through formal education, graduating with a degree in Fine Arts from Lakehead University and a three-year diploma in Design from George Brown College in Toronto.

Kowalchuk’s artistic pursuits encompass a diverse range of disciplines, with a particular emphasis on screen printing, life drawing, and commercial design. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for bringing ideas to life, he has made a significant impact in the skateboard and snowboard industry. For over a decade, he owned a skate brand, contributing his artistic vision to its success.

His distinctive artistry has garnered recognition and accolades, earning him features in esteemed sporting publications such as Snowboard Mag, Snowboard Canada, Transworld Snow, Bomb Snow Mag, The Snowboard Journal, and Thrasher Magazine, among others. Kowalchuk’s skill and creativity have also led to ongoing collaborations with renowned brands including Yes Snowboards, Academy Snowboards, Now Bindings, Bones Wheels, RDS, Etnies, and Remind Insoles.
