Coming to BC for the summer of 2014 will be the very first mountain bike Enduro Series for Canada.  You will see a ‘BC Enduro Series’ and a ‘Kootenay Rockies Series’. The later series will be hosted in all those spectacular mountain bike towns across the Kootenay’s region.  The two series will be bought together for a final showdown in Revelstoke at the end of summer on September 14th and 15th.   

Enduro racing is a combination of cross country and downhill mountain bike riding, where riders set out on a pre-determined course, but only segments of that course are timed – predominately the descents. It allows for a more relaxed fun style of racing/riding where you can ride casually with your buddies during the transition/climbing sections and then get your race game on for the timed descents. It allows riders to explore new trails and riding locations throughout BC while still getting the competition side of it.

Golden will be hosting one of these stops within the Kootenay Rockies Enduro Series. It will capture some of the best riding in the area with a 2 day event on July 19th and 20th, 2014.  Day 1 will put you to your fitness test with a course set out of 3-5hrs of riding with 4-5 timed stages throughout the course. Day 2 will give riders a bit more of a rest with the use of the gondola on Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. There will be approximately 3 timed stages allowing plenty of time for some well deserved beverages at the resort base during the after party celebrations and awards ceremony.
