Golden Blog

Ask anyone 'what makes Golden, so Golden' and the answer will always include 'the people'.

Golden is an historic mountain town lived in and loved by real people who are proud of their heritage and are always ready with a warm welcome and happy to share their stories. Here, some Golden locals share their experiences, whether it be skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, biking,  snow or trail conditions, great dining, concerts or just enjoying our great mountain town.

Skiing at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort Golden BC Canadian Rockies

Kicking Horse: It’s all about the snow whether you’re a shredder or cruiser

Our daughter was the reason we experienced our first season skiing at Kicking Horse.

She was eight at the time and the “squeaky wheel” skier of the family – which is to say she liked to complain (sometimes a lot) about skiing. Like many kids learning to ski, it wasn’t the easiest or most comfortable process for her.

Check yo self before you wreck yo self.

Alright listen up, winter is almost here.  Time to pull your sled out of storage and unpack the neatly stored gear that accompanies it.  Or, if you’re anything like me, go across the street to the empty lot where you abandoned your trusty steed last spring, chop down the tree that’s growing through the left control arms, and yard your sled out of the weeds.
