Powder highway Duo

Eat, sleep, ski and repeat in Golden, BC:

Best Eats:

Skiers looking to save a dime should feast at Big Bend Cafe. It’s a staple in the Golden community, offering hearty breakfast sandwiches for the pre-ski hunger and even better sammys for lunch as well. Go for the sirloin steak sandwich and thank us later.

Whitetooth Bistro is your go-to for slightly swankier dishes—amazing beef, fish and veggies that’ll satisfy any guest. Enjoy this fine Canadian cuisine with the Kootenay Mountains and the Dogtooth Range in view after a long day of mind-blowing skiing on world-class terrain.

Best Drinks:

Rockwater Grill & Bar has a hell of an après setup. Post up at its massive bar, order your favorite post-ski libation and enjoy the cozy atmosphere after a long day in the cold. It’s on the slightly fancier side of things but, hey, you deserve it.

Nightlife fun goes down at The Golden Taps Pub, where the beer flows endlessly and tons of late-night snacks are just begging to be eaten. Go for the Gangsta Wrap: beef, breaded pork, bacon, onion rings, romaine lettuce and mixed cheese. All tossed in sweet, tangy hot sauce.

Best Sleeps:

If you’re making your way up to these resorts, chances are you’re a die-hard skier trying to keep it cheap. If that’s the case, post up at the Dreamcatcher Hostel. Its no-shoes policy will make you feel at home (and clean) and beds are just $35/night. Prices drop when groups share rooms, too, so plan accordingly.

There aren’t a ton of posh spots in this area—hence all the untouched powder waiting up there—but a higher-end place to stay is the Winston Lodge & Spa. This spot has 11 amazing suites to shack up in, highlighted by handcrafted wood furniture jetted baths, private balconies and wild mountain views.
