Totally Spoked: An Athlete's View

Updates from local athlete Shane Kroeger

Shane Kroeger’s outdoor lifestyle was inspired by “mountain” biking on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon. A Golden resident for fifteen years, he spends his winters working as an ACMG ski guide and his summer hours exploring local rivers and trails by kayak or bike.

"I am excited to get the opportunity to race for Tourism Golden in the upcoming Single Track 6 and Kootenay Rockies Enduro Series. It is great to be able to showcase some of the fantastic riding Golden has to offer in these races. The next while will be a busy time putting the miles on the bike and checking out all the race segments."

Day 5 of the Single Track 6.  Today we switched sides of the valley to the Purcells and the flowy trails on the Moonraker network.  It was the biggest day of riding yet with 60 km of fun single track.  Again, racers were raving about the quality of the local riding.  And we have just shown them a little sample!

Day 4 of the SingleTrack 6 today.  After 3 days racing on the road, it is nice to get back on the home turf!  Today was a much more technical ride than the first days with lots of people stoked on the quality of the trails.  Body is starting to feel the toll of 4 days of back to back riding, so it was nice to have the Golden energy to lift me up

What a great weekend of bike racing at the Golden Enduro!  Heavy rains Saturday night soaked the course and had everybody wondering what Sunday would bring.  Rumours were flying about a last minute course change due to conditions, but the call was made to continue on with the original course.
