Join local writer and artist Claire Dibble on her journey on the Columbia River. Titled 'Watershed Moments', this is a solo paddling expedition and social-engagement art project that will cover all 2000 kilometers (1243 miles) of the Columbia River between the source (Columbia Lake, Canal Flats) to the sea (beyond Astoria, Oregon). Claire starts her trip on July 1, 2019, and will be passing through Golden on July 9. Wildsight Golden is proud to be welcoming Claire by hosting a community paddle event from Nicholson Bridge to Confluence Park.
At 4:30pm, participants should meet at Confluence Park, where Glacier Rafting has agreed to shuttle you and your paddling equipment to Nicholson. The shuttle leaves at 5pm. Paddling starts at 5:30 with Claire to Confluence Park. The trip takes about 2-3 hours. Once you've arrived at Confluence Park, meet and greet with Claire to see her homemade kayak and discuss her project. There will be cold drinks and a few refreshments provided by donation. Please bring your own cup.
People are responsible for getting their own watercraft to and from Confluence Park. Event will end by 9 PM.
All are welcome to either paddle or attend the after party.
