2 Spirited Lessons to Help Build Healthy Communities for the 2SLGBTQiA
Join Ktunaxa Two-Spirit and Transgender poet and PhD Candidate (Indigenous Studies) in conversation with Golden BC LGBTQ Pride as we learn about what it means to be two-spirit, and how to honour our responsibilities as people living ʔamakʔis Ktunaxa.
Smokii Sumac is a Ktunaxa Two-Spirit and Transgender Poet, PhD Candidate, and Consultant. His poetry book you are enough: love poems for the end of the world won an Indigenous Voices Award and he is currently working on multiple projects including the forthcoming ʔasqanaki podcast on Indigenous music and literature, and the xaȼqanaǂ ʔitkiniǂ (many ways of working on the same thing) project where he supports conversations around gender and sexual diversity throughout the research process, as the team asks the question qapsin kiʔin ʔakaǂxuniyam? What would a healthy community look like?
This event is free but has limited space. Golden Pride Society will welcome donations to help offset the cost of bringing in this sought-after speaker.
