Lake Fishing Spots

Golden offers fantastic lake fishing and many are stocked annually.  Anglers will soon discover why Golden is a true fishing gem.

The majority of the lakes are accessed via forest service roads (FSR) and so high clearance vehicles are highly recommended. Make sure you check for active logging as access restrictions will apply.

Aid Lake:

Located west of Golden, off the TransCanada Highway 1 on Bush River FSR.  
Stocked with rainbow trout, launch for small boats.

Maximum depth: 5 metres
Mean depth: 2.4 metres
Elevation: 983 metres

Bittern Lake:

Located south of Golden, 10 km from Parson heading towards Mitten Lake.

Stocked with rainbow trout.

Surface area (hectares): 17.017
Maximum depth: 12 metres
Mean depth: 4 metres
Elevation: 1007 metres
 

Blackwater Lake:

Located west of Golden, off the TransCanada Highway 1 on Bush River FSR.  
Stocked with rainbow trout, great fishing from May to September.

One of the best family fishing spot locations.

Surface area (hectares): 14.538
Maximum depth: 5.1 metres
Mean depth: 2.5 metres
Elevation: 975 metres

Cedar Lake 1:

Located 4 km from Golden via the Kicking Horse Trail and Tallis FSR.

There are actually four lakes in the Cedar Lake group, and all are stocked with trout at various times over the years. 

Stocked with rainbow trout.

Maximum depth: 25 metres
Mean depth: 11.5 metres
Elevation: 1021 metres

Comfort Lake:

Located west of Golden, off the TransCanada Highway 1 on Bush River FSR.  
Stocked with rainbow trout, fly fishing recommended.

Surface area (hectares): 7.482
Maximum depth: 5.5 metres
Mean depth: 3.3 metres
Elevation: 982 metres

Gorman Lake:

Access via Gorman FSR off Golf Course Road.  No  road access but a pleasant hike to this alpine lake.
Stocked with rainbow trout. Update July 22nd 2016, due to bridge disrepair it is not recommended to visit Gorman Lake until further notice.

Help Lake:

Located west of Golden, off the TransCanada Highway 1 on Bush River FSR.  
Stocked with rainbow trout, fly fishing recommended.

Mean depth: 1.2 metres
Elevation: 983 metres

Jeb Lake:

Located west of Golden, off the TransCanada Highway 1 on Bush River FSR  and then Susan Lake Road.

Stocked with brook trout, 4wd recommended.

Maximum depth: 23.5 metres
Mean depth: 4.8 metres
Elevation: 1425 metres

Kinbasket Lake:

Located 50km west of Golden, off the TransCanada Highway.
Bull trout, ling cod, rainbow, kokanee and whitefish, boat launches available.

Loon Lake:

Located south of Golden off the Spillimacheen Forest Service Road via the Crestbrook Mainline, accessed via Parson.

Stocked with rainbow trout, fly fishing recommended.

Maximum depth: 9.1 metres
Mean depth: 4.5 metres
Elevation: 1241 metres

Mitten Lake:

Located south of Golden, 13 kms from Parson via Crestbrook Road
Stocked with rainbow trout.

Maximum depth: 10 metres
Mean depth: 5 metres
Elevation: 996 metres

Nine Bay Lake:

Located south of Golden. 12 kms from Spillimacheen.

Stocked with rainbow trout.

Surface area (hectares): 33.733
Maximum depth: 11 metres
Mean depth: 3.5 metres
Elevation: 963 metres

Rocky Point Lake:

Located 30 km from Parson accessed via the Bobby Burns Forest Service Road

Stocked with rainbow trout, shore fishing is limited, car top boat launch.

Surface area (hectares): 26.165
Maximum depth: 14.6 metres
Mean depth: 4.6 metres
Elevation: 1442 metres

Susan Lake:

Located west of Golden, off the TransCanada Highway 1 on Bush River FSR  and then Susan Lake Road.

Stocked with Eastern brook trout, shore fishing is limited.

Maximum depth: 31 metres
Mean depth: 11.8 metres
Elevation: 1530 metres

Three Island Lake:

Located south of Golden, 30 km from Parson accessed via the Bobby Burns Forest Service Road.
Stocked with rainbow trout, shore fishing is limited, boat launch.

Maximum depth: 34.3 metres
Mean depth: 10.7 metres
Elevation: 1531 metres

Wilbur Lake:

Located 12 km from Parson accessed via Crestbrook Road.

Stocked with rainbow trout, fly fishing recommended, shore fishing is limited. Special fishing regulations apply.
