Saturday Showcase

July 7, 2018 - 11:00am to 1:00pm

The Golden Visitor Centre is pleased to present Saturday Showcase. This free weekly event will showcase all that there is to know about Golden including wildlife, nature, history, geography and culture. Join us each week for an interpretative presentation and have your questions answered. 

 

July 7 - Boo the Grizzly

Nicole, the Grizzly Bear Refuge Manager at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort will be on-site to talk about Boo our resident Grizzly. Nicole will also share some of the learning that they have had since the start of the refuge. 

 

July 14 - WildSafe BC 

Johanne, the WildSafe BC Coordinator in Golden will be joining us to talk about our wild neighbours and how to reduce human-wildlife conflict. 

 

July 28 - Birds of the Wetlands 

Verena, the Program Assistant for the Columbia Wetlands Waterbird Survey will be on-site to share her wealth of knowledge about local birds, waterbirds and findings from the local waterbird survey. 

 

August 4 - Invasive Species 

Kim from the Columbia Shuswas Invasive Species Society will be on-site to share her knowledge on invasive species and what you can do to reduce the transmission of them throughout our region. 

 

August 11 - Beavers and the Wetlands 

Wildsight Golden will be on-site to talk about the research they are currently doing on the west bench involving beavers and the wetlands. They will be sharing historical and evolutionary information as well as local history of settlement and trapping.

 

August 18 - Via Ferrata 

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort will be on-sight showcasing their Via Ferrata experiece. Come learn about this secured climbing opportunity to see views of a lifetime!  

 

September 1 - WildSafe BC 

Johanne, the WildSafe BC Coordinator in Golden will be joining us to talk about our wild neighbours and how to reduce human-wildlife conflict.
