Jim Byrnes is a gifted and soulful musician and songwriter who was born in St. Louis, Missouri – an atmospheric, music-rich place where Ike and Tina Turner were the stars of a house band in a neighbourhood bar and R&B wafted tantalizingly through the air. He loved that St. Louis vibe, and the musically precocious Byrnes was inspired to start singing and playing guitar at the tender age of 13.

He moved to Vancouver in the mid-‘70s and in just a few years The Jim Byrnes Band was a cornerstone of the local blues scene. Byrnes soon expanded his musical palette to include all forms of Americana as he put his stamp on many genres, including gospel, rockabilly and country.

But this superb musician is also a great raconteur and is at his best on stage: whether he’s telling marvelous anecdotes drawn from a lifetime in music, or performing a perfect mix of original tunes and Americana classics that suddenly sound new again, nobody gets the job done quite like Jim Byrnes.
