Why Golden, BC should be on every mountain-lover’s bucket list

We’re barely minutes out of Calgary when we first glimpse them: The Rocky Mountains. Their jagged sparkling-white peaks look like a mirage against the flat, green farmland we’re driving through. As they get closer, they come to life becoming more jaw-droppingly gorgeous at every turn. We drive through Canada’s iconic Banff National Park and its equally stunning BC cousin, Yoho National Park, and three hours later we reach our destination –Golden, British Columbia.

Mountains are everything in the small town of Golden, situated in the Valley of a Thousand Peaks, which separates the Rockies to the east and the Columbia Mountains to the west. There are no less than six national parks within a two-hour drive: Banff, Jasper, Yoho, Kootenay, Glacier and Mount Revelstoke.
