Mike's Trail Updates

Quartz Creek - Went to Quartz on Wednesday(17th) and Thursday (18th). Colder than a witches ---, but fun was had by all. Tried out my new helmet cam and got it to work right on the second day.(I rent them now too). Will try to get some footage up on this site soon. GROOMING in full swing and will continue Thursday night and Friay night and Saturday night, as neccessary......Good news for all! Pretty fair snow for this time of year. Approx. 4-5 ft. in Cabin valley! Starting from parking lot.

Gorman - Probably ready to go now. Still Rocky, but with the new snow it should have decent coverage. Going to try to get up there before this weekend and will keep my ears open for any reports. Watch out for the logging trucks as they will be running until the end of January as far as the 7 km parking lot.

Silent Pass - Good to go! A little cold on the way in but groomed silky smooth I hear. Parking at the 21 k. is the best but a few trucks have ventured further(Pretty hard on the trail though!)

Blaeberry - Chris (our master mechanic), Jason (a good looking customer) and I went up to Collie Creek on Monday the 8th. The snow is unreal! 2-3 ft. of fresh. Jason had her in pretty deep a couple of times and I strung out a belt, but other than that it was clear sailing. Not too much of a base yet but most stuff is covered pretty good now. We left the big meadow untouched as it was getting late in the day. This is a great area if you don't mind the 40 k. trail ride in. Parking is at the 2k. There is a D8 in the way right now, so you will have to unhook your 4-place to turn around.....but no big deal if everyone pulls out of the way afterwards.

Susan Lake - Lots of ice now........safe for a sled, That's for sure. Haven't heard about anyone doing the"loop" yet, but I am sure it is ready to go.

Silver mines - Murray Mooseknuckle went up yesterday and said it was a bit of a kerfuffle. The small alders were still showing pretty hard and he thought a guy should wait a bit more before trying again. If Murray says it is to early, IT IS TO EARLY.

Overall - Pretty fair early season conditions.
