Glacier National Park

In 1881 Major A.B. Rogers was dispatched to the Selkirks to find a route for the Canadian Pacific Railway through the "impenetrable peaks" west of the Rockies.  Rogers Pass was so designated for its importance in the development of the country's first major national transportation route. Rogers Pass National Historic Site is located in Glacier National Park.  

The Park protects Columbia Mountains and its old-growth cedar and hemlock forest and endangered mountain caribou, mountain goats and grizzly bears.

Glacier National Park is the birthplace of North America mountaineering.  In the past services of Swiss Guides were provided for guests at the Glacier House hotel.

Rogers Pass is recognized as a premier world ski touring destination and should not be missing on the list of any ski touring enthusiast.
