Vancouver’s Peter ‘n’ Chris – a.k.a. Chris Wilson and Peter Carlone – met in the theatre department at the University of Victoria and graduated into a very successful appearance at the Victoria Fringe Festival. Their spoofy, partially improvised comedy, a mix of faux naiveté and sly postmodernism, led to sell-out crowds and fawning press.

A few years later their third touring Fringe show, The Mystery of the Hungry Heart Motel, became a hit all across the country and even internationally. It won them the prestigious Just For Laughs-sponsored comedy award at the Montreal Fringe Festival and has led to appearances alongside comedy superstars such as Kids in the Hall and writing gigs with CBC Radio’s The Irrelevant Show.

Using The Hardy Boys and Scooby Do as wacky inspiration, Hungry Heart pretends to be spooky but it’s really just the perfect excuse to unleash a lot of crazy comedy. The simple story focuses on two hapless guys who become stranded on the side of a highway and take refuge at a mysterious nearby hotel. A very bad idea, as it turns out.

And as our two protagonists muddle through nightmarish encounters and terrifying plot twists, the resulting mix of horror and hilarity shows two gifted performers blending deadpan slapstick and innovative physical shenanigans into an unforgettable comedic confection.
